Hair Extensions...I love mine

The first time around at a different salon it did not end so well.... However, my second experience at Hair Studio Sonterra was completely different. This is not to say my extensions the first time around didn't look good, but Shellie seems more dedicated to helping me throughout the time that I have had them in.
Her technique is also different. Compared to the first time my extensions did not knot up, (and when this happens you have to stay on top of it) and I believe this was in large part due to her technique. My hair was also longer, and fuller so to me this was extremely impressive. I felt so beautiful - even the second time around when you see them finished it is still quite the site.
Based on my experience I would only use the products designed to protect the bonding of your extensions. Whoever puts your extensions in should take them out. Brush you hair three times a day, and pull it back when you sleep. Also, Shellie recommended when washing my hair not to put conditioner anywhere near your bonds because it will loosen them up.
I am going in later this month, to have them taken them out, and I am going to get a new set put in.

Her time was devoted to me, and she listened to everything I had to say. She is very down to earth, and full of ideas. The Secret is Laura she gave me a beautiful head of hair extensions and nobody Knows. She added the extensions and did complete color...it looks GORGEOUS!

My hair has a hard time holding color and was in terrible condition when I first came in. But after each visit it looks better and better. Melissa always explains everything to me and why my hair was losing color. Because of her talent my hair is very nice. The Blonde Highlights are always what I wanted.

I went to Melissa for the second time and she is very friendly and chatty. I enjoy her company and my haircut is Very Cute! She seems very detail oriented and I have the best ...best highlights and low lights ever. She has earned my loyalty.

My haircut is filled with movement. If found MYSELF! This place made me feel extremely comfortable and fresh. Evone gave me the time, hair cut and highlights I asked for. She never has an "off" day.

I've had the same hair cut and style since the 80's! Since my hair started to turn gray, I began using different hair dyes from the store and Sally's myself to cover it. I made the mistake of picking a color that was too dark and I looked like a used car salesman. After reading all the good reviews, I thought I'd give this place a call to correct it. I told the stylist to help me correct the color and to also help me get a new style. She asked me questions about what I do for a living. She then showed me some styles and colors that would look professional as to not be inapproporate for professional attire. I was really impressed with that! The service was the absolute best I've ever had in a hair salon by far! The prices were great. I have a new style that everyone loves! I am a customer for life....or as long as I have hair! Thanks for doing a great job!

I don’t normally write reviews, but felt it was important in this instance to recognize a competent and professional stylist and a great salon experience. I had highlights put in my hair for the first time a couple weeks ago, and was very nervous as I don’t normally color my hair. Recommended by a hair extensions client, I am so glad I chose Hair Studio Sonterra and stylist Shellie. She was friendly and didn’t rush me, explaining the highlighting process, giving suggestions and recommendations … which turned out beautifully!
Anybody can give a great haircut, but it takes patience and personality to give a great haircut experience. Thanks Hair Studio Sonterra

I have had several services at The Hair Studio, extensions, eyelashes, cut and color. I can't say enough about the professionalism of the staff and artists. Comfortable setting and absolutely individual treatment. Sometimes I want to have a relaxed day at the spa, and some days I am in for maintenance and need to be in and out. Either way, they are always accomodating. I have recommended the studio to my frends and family, and will continue to do so. Prices are fair and you always get what you pay for! Love this place!

I came to see Debbie Jo and Melissa and I could not be happier!! I was referred there by somebody who loves them and I can now see why! Melissa is a color specialist there and was very explanatory of why what she was recommending would be the best for my hair. It is exactly what i wanted and I feel beautiful!! (She referred me to Debbie Jo, a cutting specialist there, because they work together a lot and she does razoring!) My cut is ADORABLE and it could not have been better!! I can completely appreciate when a stylist can stick with what theyre great at to make the perfect result!! I have found a new home and will certainly be back!! Thanks Debbie Jo and Melissa!! I was so tired of trying to find someone here in the Rio Grande Valley to cut my hair short. The highlights were always really weird - too orange or maroon! Yuck. I had had enough and I was coming up on a birthday. So I made an appointment with Melissa for hightlights and Debbie for a cut and they were fabulous! It has been a long time since I have come out of a hair appointment feeling so excited with my new hairdo! Melissa and Debbie were so knowledgeable and they really know what they are doing! I have already received so many compliments on my hair.
By the way I already have my next appointment scheduled. It is well worth it to drive 500 miles (250 up and back) !!

I have Naturally Curly hair. Finding a stylist that can understands my hair is difficult to find. Lisa knows how to tame my curly locks. It pains me to spend $154 for a cut and color, but I feel it is really worth the money to feel and look great. Lisa is skilled stylist with a sweet personality and I highly recommend her.

I have been to several hairdressers. This Hair Sonterra worked with me individually. I have left salons with green blond hair and with orange roots. Now I am Beautiful and Blonde. They spent 3 hours, but I got what I wanted. Time and Time. They gave me direction for my hair and wanted to know me.
I will be Back. Whatever their shampoo is it smells good too!

I have been a client of the Studio for a number of years. During that time I tried a few other salons in the area and everytime I come back to the Hair Studio. The staff has always been friendly and accomodating, and the stylists know their color. Over time I have had the pleasure of having Yvonne, Melissa and recently Lisa do my color and highlights. Everytime it has turned out exceptional. The price is upper end, but so is the quality of service and results.

My 20-year high school reunion was coming up and had not had my hair cut or colored professionally in over six months. When I called for an appointment I explained that in the past I have had bad experiences with stylists who were a bit scissor happy and who did not listen to or do what I had asked they do with my hair. After discussing with me my hair needs Melissa was recommended and an appointment arranged.
I arrived a little early for my appointment, and was promptly greeted when I walked in the door. Everyone was very attentive. I didn't have to wait more than 2-3 minutes before Melissa introduced herself to me and took me to her work area. She spent some time looking at photos I had brought with me and listening to what I had in mind for my hair. She made some suggestions and brought a sample board of the hair colors from which I had to choose. Melissa and I finally decided on the best color for my skin tone, and she convinced me that the cut I already had was a good style for my face, but it needed to be shaped and the lines defined. She listened to my concerns about prior experiences and did everything I asked her to do.
Melissa and I have similar personalities, so we talked the majority of the time, except when I was looking through books of hairstyles. We laughed at some of them together, because frankly, some were ridiculous. I pointed out styles I liked and she would explain why they would or would not work with my hair. I couldn’t have hand-picked a more perfect stylist match for me if I had done it myself. She knew exactly what I wanted and did it. The color turned out a bit light, but that was because I asked her to put some blonde highlights in it. I really like how it turned out, though and I am happy with the color. I can always go a bit darker next time I come in if I decide to do so.
The cut is awesome and even going into the fourth week since my visit, my hair still looks great. It amazes me how much easier it is to style my hair when I have a GOOD cut! I most definitely will be returning. After 10 years, I finally found someone who does my hair the way I ask them to. I am just as pleased with the results today, almost four weeks after the cut and color, as the day it was done.
Melissa did a spectacular job on my hair and I looked great at the reunion. I owe her BIG time and she will definitely be getting my repeat business!

My extensions were done by Shelli, and all I can say is that I'm a true fan! I've had hair extensions and highlights previously done, and I was always left feeling "is this the way they're supposed to look?" And when you pay good money, for such a time consuming service, that's definitely not how you want to feel!!!!
Shelli worked with me on matching color, texture, and making sure that absolutely no damage would be done to my own hair.... She is not only fast, but very precise and accurate!!
Well, my hair looks awesome, and I am a true believer in her expertise and skills. Just wished I'd found her sooner, but now that I have I'm not going anywhere!!
I highly recommend this talented "hair artist" and Studio Sonterra - their work speaks for itself!

I have been going to Hair Studio of Sonterra now for a couple of months. My services is always outstanding, I think the prices are reasonable compared to other salons in the area. After all if you want quality, you should pay for it. It is what sets one studio apart from another. I currently get eyelash extensions at the salon, and Elsa is awesome. Even when I go to the doctor's office, the girls compliment me on my eyes and have no idea they are extensions. The work is flawless, and it makes me feel very special. All of the girls know me by name and always take time to catch up on my family with me. Even though I currently get my hair done elsewhere, I have had product advice, color advice, style advice that I follow and to me it is obvious they know their business. If I do lose my current stylist, I will absolutely trust my hair to the Hair Studio. Please keep up the great work.

I drive about 30 min to get to Hair Studio Sonterra, I truly love it. The welcoming feel of the Salon and the staff is great, but I love my stylist Mary and would drive a hour for her!! I've lived in Houston and Dallas for many years and have had various stylists. I'm a very meticulous about my hair color, Mary is fabulous with color and gets it right every time!! I've been cursed with curly hair but recently Lisa changed all that, she introduced me to Keratin Treatment ....My hair is amazing, healthy, shiny and straight everyday! I think I'll never go to curly again.

I'm in constant pursuit of finding "the salon" that will make me come back for more, and I believe it's just ended. I left Studio Sonterra in love with my hair for the first time in a long time. I went in there desperately wanting to fix my color but with no idea of what I wanted as the end result and open to suggestions. Lauren was awesome! She is excellent with color. Before we started she talked with and explained what she thought would look best and the process involved. My hair looks healthy and the color looks completely natural. So after Lauren is done with color then I got a cut from Debbie Jo who is also very talented. It's a quiet and comfortable salon with a modern look. I spent the better part of my afternoon at the salon and it was very pleasant and relaxing experience. Another thing that I wasn't expecting was how nice everyone was. Even the other customers were friendly and quick to smile. Oh, and the prices aren't that bad either. I'm definitely going back and if the experience the second time is as good as the first I'll be making this salon my one and only.

First of all, let me just say how happy I am that you can make appointments online and get a prompt email reply from Hair Studio Sonterra! I have a toddler and find it difficult to sneak away during the day to make phone calls, so this is especially convenient for me! Anyway....
I cannot say enough good things about this salon! First of all, everyone who works here is so nice! From the minute you walk in the door, they are very accommodating and make sure you are comfortable during your time in the salon, from start to finish. My first experience at the salon was with Cheri. She was very nice and went above and beyond to attempt a coloring technique on my hair that she had never done before (with some assistance from Lauren, who was also very nice and helpful!) In the end, I was unhappy with the results -- not because of any mistakes on Cheri's part, the color just wasn't as light as I had been wanting. I emailed the salon (after hours, on a Friday evening) asking if my color could be fixed and received a response within hours, scheduling me for a new appointment the next morning! They were so amazing about the whole situation! They didn't make me feel guilty for having my hair done again, for free, and they even gave me some goodies for my trouble (though I wouldn't call it trouble at all!) This time my stylist was Lisa and she was amazing! She was very friendly and made sure my hair ended up exactly like I wanted. I could not be happier with the whole experience and would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone!

I came to this salon after more than a dozen years of salon hopping. I was never quite satisfied at any other salon. Either I received a great cut or a decent (livable) color. But never both.
UNTIL…
I met the staff at Hair Studio Sonterra. Both Lisa and Shelli are phenomenal colorists!! Both have done my color and I have always been thrilled with the results. Debbie usually does my cut and she is incredibly talented and really sweet.
I have dark brown hair and have never walked out of there with pedestrian hair, freak show hair; Zebra stripped hair or having horribly bleached out hair. It has now been 2 years now and I refuse to change salons!!!
Lisa has cut and colored my hair and taken my distressed tresses and made me look Amazing. The color is beautiful and now has depth and - for lack of a better words - my hair looks like silk. It looks gorgeous. I'm hooked. I will NOT go somewhere else.
I will stick with the lovely, friendly and professional staff at Studio Sonterra.
